Hope feels like a precarious word right now. Coming up on the end of a disastrous year and people are relieved and cautious of being too optimistic. Maybe it’s written in the stars that we will be like this forever, but astrology disagree. 

We talked to Fiona Hillery, a professional astrologer, tarot reader, and esoteric empowerment coach, about the upcoming year, what to expect, and her journey into her spirituality.

Growing up in Rhode Island, Hillery followed her instincts away from the small state and the big city. With only $500 to her name, she used her degree to work in marketing and communications for the entertainment industry for companies like Vice and Refinery29.

Years after climbing the corporate ladder and achieving her goals, Fiona still felt a hollow pang inside of spiritual yearning. She claims her “spiritual bankruptcy” was due to an overemphasis on external linear success without having defined the internal. Childhood wounding that had been long repressed in pursuit of success began to become unignorable.

At 27, she started her spiritual awakening and dabbling into holistic healing. Soon, her astrology knowledge completely skyrocketed, and she was able to achieve esoteric empowerment.

“I’m acting as a bridge between the worlds of media and spirituality. My work helps those exploring spirituality to discover how tools like astrology and tarot can be essential for healing and empowerment. From college graduates to CEOS, these ancient tools help everyone walk their highest path.” Hillery said.

She started committing to her spiritual journey almost four years ago and wants to channel her energy to help people dip their toes in astrology and be a gateway for learning.

The eclipse season has begun from November 24th until December 29th on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. So, for Geminis, Sagittarians, Virgos, and Pisces pay special attention to the kinds of ideas you have. If you have any conflicts—between friends, work, family, anything—it’s essential to release them.

The next year will continue to be full of trials, but that’s no reason not to have any hope. This year had a cluster of three planets, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn. Hillery explained that in a low vibration, Capricorn can expose inequalities throughout society. Under the backdrop of an international pandemic and a crucial election, this quality of Capricorn was exacerbated.

 However, next year, Jupiter and Saturn will align under Aquarius for the following year. Aquarius, the creative, the innovator, is the perfect alignment to begin this year’s healing. Ruling over technology, with a humanitarian perspective, Aquarius offers a lot of hope. And while injustices will continue to be exposed, Aquarians will be in a perfect position to use their ingenuity to repair and build new systems and structures that work for all and not just for some.

“There’s no going back to the systems and foundations before COVID,” said Hillery. “Aquarians have to release any inhibition they may have.”

Nothing will be perfect, Hillery warned; there will be tension between the old and the new. She said the friction between the two will clash on February 17, June 15, and December 24, 2021.

Hillery said to look specifically toward the financial sector—specifically cryptocurrency. “I bet the house that there will be more open minds around cryptocurrency,” she said.

To compliment Aquarius, Uranus will be sitting in Taurus until 2026. Uranus is unique, quirky, and innovative. But Taurus—with the penchant for stability—will ground those innovations and stabilize creativity into reality. With Aquarius at its side, the duo will offer solutions next year for all the exposed problems this year.

Good news for some signs, next year will be more relaxed. For Aries, Capricorns, Cancers, and Libras, 2021 will end to the tumultuous year that was 2020.
